About Me

Find out more about my Journey and what inspires me as an artist.

Fine Artist Born And Raised In Rural Lincolnshire

Born and raised in rural Lincolnshire, I am a fine artist with a passion for combining creativity with nature which inspires me to capture unique moments in time through my artwork.

I use a range of different media from oil and wax based coloured pencils and pastels for my floral and wildlife drawings to acrylics or oils for my landscape and seascape paintings.

The style of my drawings enables me to truly capture the spirits of the animals I draw, bringing their personalities to life and reflecting the soul of each bird and animal through their eyes.

I use gradual layers of colour in both my wildlife drawings and landscape paintings to produce works that bring a sense of calm and serenity to the viewer.

My Journey

Walking in the woodlands, countryside, and by the sea has not only been an integral part of my healing journey after being diagnosed with fibromyalgia, but has also been the inspiration for the intricately detailed drawings and paintings I create.

Sitting in the garden after first being diagnosed, I began to notice the details on the flowers that were growing there and on the insects they were attracting, something, like so many of us, I had never found time to do before with my busy life as a primary school teacher, wife and mother. Having a condition that at the time limited my mobility and meant that I was unable to carry on with my teaching career, allowed me for the first time to slow down and really notice the beauty and the healing qualities of nature as I never had before.

After being given a blank canvas by a family member in 2017, I created my first painting which was of Holy Island in Northumberland from a photograph I had taken after standing on the rocky beach at sunrise on a recent visit.

The silhouette of the castle against the stunning orange sky as the sun rose behind it created a feeling I just wanted to bottle, so painting this picture was the perfect way for me to hold on to that moment and it still hangs on my wall today.

After posting this piece on social media and beginning to explore different media, I quickly began being commissioned to draw pet portraits and began selling my work in shops in my local area. The sense of peace and connection I have to the natural world is reflected in the soft and gentle style of my artwork which I create in the beautifully tranquil setting of my garden room studio.

My Vision

My vision is to make art which, just for a moment, transports you to a place of peace and invites you to pause, reconnect and appreciate the true beauty and healing power of the world around us.

I firmly believe that everything happens for a reason and, as challenging as the fibromyalgia has been, it is only through it happening that I am now living a life full of gratitude spending each day following my passion whilst sprinkling just a little peace and positivity into every piece of my artwork.

The healing power of art and nature is truly magical and by capturing these moments I hope you feel this through my drawings and paintings too.
